Traveling is for the free, not for free. We all know that.

What should you expect to spend per day and person going in a buzz-around campervan and how does that compare to backpacking it through public buses and hostels?

With one of our campervans you can sort out your transport and accommodation. So that is what we need to compare.

Let's assume you are a couple and plan to travel for three month.
First let's look at bus/ hostel:
Traveling by bus for three months should cost about 600-1000 EUR per Person. Accommodations at hostels are 15-35EUR per day and Person. (source) This adds up to 3900-8300EUR per Person for the three month or 22-46EUR per day and person.

How does that compare to renting a buzz around campervan?

Let's say you are renting a vantastic van for the same 90 days we assumed above.
Your total rent would be 4447EUR and that includes all tax, all drivers, all kilometers and all basic camping gear, so there is no hidden cost. Judging by our experience of what your fellow travelers did before you your typical trip will be 4000-7000km, at 10km to the liter and 1,50EUR per liter you will be spending 600- 1050 EUR on fuel for the trip. (the liter is not yet at 1,50EUR but I have a feeling it might be next summer...)

This adds up to 2500-2800EUR for each of you for the whole trip or 28- 31EUR per Person and day. Food and fun will be extra in either case.

As you see renting a buzz-around campervan puts you right in the same price bracket as backpacking through hostels in combination with using public buses.

However, using one of our campervans you will be in full control of where you go when. You will be traveling at your own pace, not at the bus's scedule. Public bus lines are set up for the locals wanting to go into town to do their business, get to work, do their shopping and come back out to their village. They are not set up for the odd traveler to leisurely explore.

Remember, Europe is not just Paris/ Amsterdam/ Barcelona/ Berlin we too have great out doors and magnificent national parks you don't want to miss. So if you are into hiking, rock climbing, rafting, surfing, diving or other outdoor sports our campervans will give you much better access to places where you can pursue these activities than public transport is set up to do.

By the way, if you travel in 3 or 4 and rent an agile&mobile campervan your cost per day and person will be lower again.
